I was fortunate enough to be "found" and befriended by Victor and Maria, who I stayed with in Calangute and Mumbai.  The double richness of making new friends and being shown the western points of India I've never seen was unexpected, as the treasures of India usually are.&lt;br /&gt;On the professional side, I met dentists and lawyers and medical travel entrepreneurs, who are working hard to make the path to India and other countries in SE Asia a smooth one for potential patients.
